Pierline Systems

Production AI engineering

Your AI feature, built to survive real users.

Pierline ships agents, retrieval and evaluation into software products for teams that don't have a senior AI engineer yet. It's a fixed scope and a fixed price, and your team keeps the code.

scope: one feature, one success metric

ship: behind a flag, then live
handover: docs and a walkthrough

Three ways to work together

Every engagement is written up before it starts: what ships, how we'll know it works, and what it costs.

AI Feature Sprint

from $5,000 fixed

One production AI feature, from spec to live, usually in two to three weeks.

  • Agent, retrieval (RAG) or structured extraction
  • An evaluation set and a regression check in CI
  • Cost and latency budgets, fallbacks, logging

Fractional AI Engineer

~$6,000 / month

About eight hours a week of senior AI engineering inside your team, with no hiring cycle.

  • Architecture and model choices
  • Code reviews and pairing with your engineers
  • Keeps the AI features healthy as models change

AI-Readiness Review

~$3,000 fixed

A written review for founders and CTOs before a raise, a launch or a first AI hire.

  • Where AI fits your product, and where it doesn't
  • Risks: data, cost, vendor lock-in, retired models
  • A ranked 90-day plan

Built your app with Lovable, Bolt or Cursor and not sure it's ready? A $500 Production Check gives you a 48-hour review and a ranked fix list, credited toward any sprint.

How a sprint runs

It's short, written down, and measured.

  1. Scoping call

30 minutes on the feature, your data and what "working" means.

  2. Written proposal

Scope, success metric, timeline and a fixed price within two business days.

  3. Build

Daily progress in your repo. Evals come first, so every change is checked.

  4. Ship & hand over

Live behind a flag, with docs, dashboards and a recorded walkthrough.

Is this a fit?

Good fit

  • Funded B2B software company, seed to Series B
  • An AI feature on the roadmap and no one senior to own it
  • A prototype that works in the demo but not with real users
  • Dev agencies that need an AI engineer for a client project (white-label is fine)

Not a fit

  • Building or training foundation models
  • Open-ended research with no product to ship
  • Anything needing an on-site, full-time hire

About

Pierline Systems is run by Julian Hale, a senior AI engineer who designs and ships production generative-AI systems: agents, retrieval pipelines and the evaluation work that keeps them honest.

Pierline is deliberately small. You talk to the engineer who writes the code, and every engagement ends with your team owning it.

Based in New York City and working remotely with teams in US time zones.
